The Ny Chair is the masterpiece of designer Takeshi Nii, who created this pioneering chair in 1970. Its pleasing and utilitarian design is still beloved by many the world over. Its carefully calculated seat and armrest height, backrest angle, and fabric characteristics all work together, its cocoon-like feel providing superior, comfortable seating. It is light at 14.5 pounds; and when folded, it measures a mere 6 inches for easy transport and storage. The seat is made of Kurashiki canvas, a durable, finely-textured, weaved cotton yarn that can be removed and replaced. This iconic chair is also part of MoMA's permanent collection.
