Baba Suishaba

Japanese Cedar Tree Incense

$ 16

A natural incense stick made from raw cedar leaves that was created using 100% renewable energy from a water wheelhouse.

The powder of cedar leaves and tab leaves, which are the raw materials for this incense stick, are beaten by a water wheel that uses the flow of water for energy. The water wheel is a renewable energy source that only uses the power of water and no fuel. As only raw materials are used for the incense stick, no coloring or fragrances have been added and you get to enjoy the natural smell of the cedar wood. A perfect gift for yourself or someone who enjoys spending time in nature, creating a calm environment as if you were meditating in a quiet forest. This incense also serves as an insect repellent as well.

Baba Suishaba

Located in the Yame Area of the Fukuoka Prefecture, a region full of cedar tree mountains that is thriving in cedar forestry. The Baba Water Wheelhouse was originally built in 1918 with the funding of local volunteers to help power the local mountain town. Eventually as technology advanced and the water wheelhouses were becoming no longer needed, in 1961, Baba Tsuguo bought the entire site to what is now Baba Water Wheelhouse. Currently the second generation Takeshi Baba and his wife work together to create natural incense using 0 electricity during production, procuring materials from the local mountain and using the water wheel for energy. They continue to make incense everyday while facing nature and the flow of water.
