Cutting flowers with ordinary scissors causes the flower to prematurely lose their vibrancy. However, with the Ikenobo, the clean, sharp cut that it provides, will prolong the flower’s vivid colors.
Traditionally used scissors for ikebana, the Ikenobo flower scissors should be the only pair you need to consider owning. The curved ends of the handle are called warabi-te and are used for crushing the ends of hard stems to preserve the cut flowers for longer. As well as, the acutely angled blades keep the fibers at the cut ends from being compressed, allowing for better water absorption. Each scissor is hand forged and is environmentally friendly. No chemicals have been used when coloring the handles.
