Futakataya

Orin, Daichi

$ 640

A tone that has an unrefined roughness, that brings the natural and real sound of a traditional Orin allowing you to experience the true nature of sound therapy at the deepest level.

This Orin design has been polished to perfection without cutting any material to leave the rough, natural texture of the casting. Its natural state allows for it to radiate a raw sound that will help relieve stress, frustration that has built up throughout your day and promote an ambient space of peace and serenity with sound therapy.

Comes with a mini cushion and a wooden/leather mallet.

The sound and Japanese craftsmanship are embodied in this Orin. Futakataya Orin is a metal sound made from the same material as the treasure "Sabari", which has existed for 1300 years and has been said to purify the surrounding area and exterminate evil spirits with its sounds. These traditional Japanese instruments used in Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines have sometimes required dozens of recastings in order to obtain a pure and oscillating sound, not heard anywhere else. With a sound that progressively gets better over the years with the more you use it, they are ideal for meditation, yoga, mindfulness, and well-being.

When creating the Orin everything is important and needs to be taken into account: soil, condition of the metal, the ratio of the mixture of the metals, temperature of the mixture when removed from the furnace, season, weather, and humidity. As only one can be made per mold, every step must be carefully done with precision. Even with one step done incorrectly, there will be no chanting sound that resonates from the Orin.

Futakataya

Since its founding, its technique, tradition, and materials have been passed down from generation to generation, creating ringing hardware that has a special focus on sound and timbre. Utilizing “Sahari” a precious metal that has been used for over 1300 years since the Nara Period and is often found in the treasures of Shosoin. The fifth-generation, Futakataya Kazuaki continues to use this technique that only a few workshops continue to do as this requires over 200 different handcrafted processes to complete, in order to create a masterpiece that will continue to sound better and better the more you use it.
