Molded plywood with a beautiful grain gives this delicate, elegantly-designed tray its superior lightness and durability.

This rectangular tray from Saito Wood is made of the molded plywood for which the company is known. Plywood, made by laminating several thin sheets of wood together, possesses the ability to be bent into difficult curves that cannot be achieved with raw wood. The result is a tray of exceptional form and practicality.

Saito Wood

Established in 1950 in the town of Kawanecho in Shizuoka Prefecture, Saito Wood creates products that blend seamlessly into your lifestyle.

Molded Plywood
This tray was made by employing the technique of molding plywood. To create molded plywood, raw wood is thinned to a thickness of 0.2 ~1 millimeter to form a veneer. Several veneers are then layered in turn vertically and then horizontally, and these veneers are set into a mold. Heat and pressure are applied to the veneers to create a shape patterned after the mold.
