With a charming whale design, this full-fledged knife was originally commissioned by a mother who wanted a knife without a sharp tip for her child to sharpen pencils with. Its gentle curves are pleasing to the eye, and it fits perfectly in hands of any size. Utilizing more than seven hundred year-old Tosa knife-making techniques, each knife is perfectly made by knife blacksmith and craftsman Toru Yamashita in Kochi, Japan. Two kinds of metal ore are combined to make this knife; and the hardening and oil tempering of the forging process are properly conducted for exceptional sharpness. Kochi is also an area known for whale-watching.
