Kamacco - Rice Cooker

$ 70
Make perfectly fluffy, sweet-tasting rice to serve one or two with this ingenious, double-lidded donabe clay pot in the Mashiko-ware tradition from Tsukamoto Pottery.

This single- or double-serving donabe clay pot slowly cooks rice to perfection. Compared to metalware, which heats up and cools down quickly, donabe pots conduct heat gradually to draw out the inherent sweetness of rice and properly steam each and every grain for a remarkably fluffy texture. Because the cook is not required to constantly monitor the heat, this pot makes it easy for even a novice to achieve delicious rice, and it is also great for making hotpot dishes or steaming vegetables.
With a capacity of 1 to 2 servings of cooked rice (1 cup of uncooked rice), the pot’s compact size allows for easy handling and storage. There are two lids--the outer lid can be used as a rice bowl, while the inner lid serves as a rice bowl cover or even as a measuring cup. One level inner lid-full of uncooked rice is equivalent to one cup (about 180 ml).

          Characterized by its sturdiness and solidity, Mashiko-ware is a traditional craft that originated in the Edo Period at Mashikomachi in Tochigi Prefecture. Established in 1864, Tsukamoto Pottery develops products that fuse traditional techniques and glazes with contemporary designs to fit modern lifestyles.
