The elegant contours of this collection are inevitable byproducts of the insistence on functional designs and Hasami Porcelain’s unique production process. Mugs, bowls, and trays were designed with uniform diameters for easy stacking, streamlined storage, and convenient transport, while the tray becomes a lid for a bowl or a plate. With a four hundred-year history, Hasami in Nagasaki Prefecture is Japan's leading region for pottery. While traditional techniques and designs continue to be employed to this day, Taku Shinimoto, owner of a popular boutique in Venice, California, has lent his vision to these traditions in order to create innovative tableware with a modern twist.
